Jun 26, 2023 (newstodate): Russia's largest charter airline Azur Air is feeling the effects from the western sanctions on the country.
The carrier is to close down its base at St Petersburg, sacking a work force of 23 cockpit crew and 108 cabin crew members, equalling 12 percent of its entire work force.
The decision is driven by the inability to source spares for maintenance of its fleet of 10 Boeing 757-200 and 10 Boeing 767-300ER aircraft - as well as the restraints on flights due to sanctions and closure of airspace.
