Jun 06, 2023 (newstodate): Currently, there are no direct flights by either El Al or SAS between Israel and Scandinavia.
Anyway, the two carriers have inked a code-share agreement to streamline flights between the two markets for SAS and El Al passengers, according to a twitter post by Anko van der Werff, SAS CEO.
Now, the question is whether one or even both of the carriers are planning for setting up flights connecting Tel Avia and one of SAS' three Nordic hubs.
Today, Norwegian is alone in offering flights to Tel Aviv from Copenhagen and Stockholm.
SAS first launched flights to Israel on June 4, 2012, with one weekly rotation on the route between Copenhagen Airport and Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport, adding a second weekly flight from July, and increasing to three weekly rotations from October 28, 2012, using Airbus A319 aircraft on the route.
Earlier, Cimber Sterling provided flights on the route from November 1, 2010, but pulled out again, officially due to hefty new demands on security by Israeli authorities.
