Jun 09, 2023 (newstodate): The Faroe Islands' Vagar Airport will be happy to see its North Atlantic neighbor Iceland offering direct flights again.
Starting from May 1, 2024, Icelandair will operate up to six weekly rotations between Keflavik and Vagar during the summer schedule, using Dash-8 Q400 aircraft on the route.
The route will bring in more tourism into the Faroe Islands from destinations on Icelandair's extensive North American route network.
The Faroese carrier Atlantic Airways is already offering flights between the two points with three weekly rotations reinstated in June 2020 after the suspension of flights during the Covid-19.
Icelandair has now increased its fleet of Dash-8 Q400 aircraft to three, all on lease from Nordic Aviation Capital, with the latest delivery earlier this week.
