Jun 01, 2023 (newstodate): Russia's St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport will see more air traffic from Iran this summer.
Starting from May 26, 2023, the Iranian airline Meraj Airlines has launched flights on the route from Tehran, offering one weekly rotation with Airbus A300-600 aircraft.
Meraj Airlines is thus the first carrier to launch traffic on the route in 2023, but already from June 9, 2023, Mahan Air will follow suit also with a weekly rotation from Tehran.
The route openings reflect the positive development in relations between Russia and Iran, that has vehemently opposed joining UN and other sanctions on Russia due to the war on Ukraine in 2022.
In the fleet of Meraj Airlines are two Airbus A300-600 and six Airbus A320 Family aircraft, while Mahan Air operates a fleet comprising eight Airbus A340-300/-600, eight A310-300, four A300-600, one Boeing 747-400 as well as 11 BAe 146/Avro RJ100 aircraft.
