Jun 27, 2023 (newstodate): Seafood exporters in the Faroe Islands have no problem with their Russian business.
Despite Russia's war on Ukraine, Faroese seafood still continue streaming into the Russian market, increasing in value by 280 mio euro between March 2022 and February 2023, compared to the previous twelve months.
The total value of exports for the period amounted to 1.71 bio euro, with fish products accounting for 1.57 bio euro.
Faroese seafood volumes did shrink in the immediate aftermath of the Russian invasion in February '22 - but recovered quickly.
In November '22, the Faroe Islands and Russia agreed to extend their bilateral fisheries agreement for another year - and this issue is hotly debated in Faroese political circles.
