Jun 28, 2023 (newstodate): Together with its owner, FEAM Aero, the Danish MRO provider Northern Aerotech has announced the acquisition of SR Technics’ aircraft line maintenance business at Madrid-Barajas Airport.
The opening in Madrid is scheduled for June 1, and together with FEAM, the acquisition will open doors to a wide-body aircraft maintenance center, supporting line maintenance scheduled activities and AOG recovery on Airbus 330/350/380 and Boeing 787/777 with any engine combination.
NAT’s specialization in aircraft line maintenance and AOG support for airlines throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, has led to the use of Madrid as a first step in the Spanish market growth, followed by plans for the addition of Barcelona and approval from the local competent authority, AESA, for all airports in Spain.
The establishment of the new business entity will allow NAT and FEAM to explore future opportunities with neighboring European countries, where FEAM can provide access to hangar facilities.
In March 2022, Northern Aerotech was acquired by the US company FEAM Aero.
Acquiring EASA Part 145 certified Northern Aerotech from its founder and CEO, Morten Schalls Jorgensen, in March 2023, FEAM Aero pursues its strategy to grow its line station network in Europe by the acquisition of the six Northern Aerotech line stations.
This increased the number of FEAM-operated locations in Europe to 12 line stations, bringing its coverage to 42 line stations.
Northern Aerotech was established on January 1, 2011, with SmartLynx as its launch customer, later adding airlines including Avion Express, Blue1, Estonian Air, Ryanair, KLM Cityhopper, flyNiki, easyJet, Lufthansa, Great Dane Airlines and CSA to its portfolio.
