Jun 13, 2023 (newstodate): In January-May 2023, Copenhagen Airport handled a total of 113,745 tonnes of cargo, legacy and integrator carriers combined, down 12.6 percent on the same period in 2022.
However, the decline still marks a gradual recovery from Jan-Apr '23 that landed 17 percent down, y-o-y.
Counting legacy cargo alone, volumes dropped 14.6 percent to 77,212 tonnes, including belly cargo, down 24.4 percent to 35,279 tonnes.
Positive news from Copenhagen Airport in its May '23 statistics is the beginning of a cautious recovery in cargo on freighter traffic, up 828 percent, y-o-y, to 362 tonnes due primarily to the introduction on March 12, 2023, of Ethiopian Airlines Cargo's weekly freighter service flying in from the carrier's main European hub at Liege and continuing directly to Addis Abeba.
This will expectedly be further boosted in June 2023 by Lufthansa Cargo's weekly trial service with an A321F between Frankfurt and Copenhagen.
The airport's trucked cargo volumes in January-May 2023 dropped 3.7 percent, y-o-y, to 38,703 tonnes.
