Jun 15, 2023 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic proudly reports an increase in market share to 57 percent in May 2023, measured by passenger volumes.
This would be an increase from a share at 48 percent in May 2022, the carrier says.
This is also an increase, compared to airBaltic's full-year market share at Riga Airport in 2022, at 50.9 percent, down from 57.3 in 2021.
In 2020, the airline's share of the passenger market in Riga Airport was 58.5 percent, slightly up on 2019 when the share was 57 percent.
So after all, even with the opening of a spree of new routes, including 10 new this summer at Riga Airport, airBaltic's share of the airport's passenger flow is vacillating, while not skyrocketing, reflecting also moves by other airlines, notably in the low-cost segment.
