May 08, 2023 (newstodate): The new ACMI and wet-lease provider SkyUp Malta has now received its Maltese AOC, CAMO, and an Air Operator License.
With this new Maltese subsidiary, the Ukrainian carrier SkyUp Airlines obtains rights for unlimited wet-lease services within the EU region under an EU certificate, as well as possibilities for future scheduled flights in the EU market.
SkyUp Malta's first aircraft, a Boeing 737-800 aircraft manufactured in 2011, entered commercial service by November/December 2022 after the carrier had obtained the pertinent licenses.
For a start, the new Maltese SkyUp MT will operate charter flights for tour operator JoinUp, the owners of which are also key stakeholders in SkyUp Airlines.
The carrier has plans to grow the number of aircraft on its coming AOC to 19 by 2023, partly by transferring aircraft from its Ukrainian AOC to the Maltese company.
In the fleet of SkyUp Airlines are today two Boeing 737-700 and 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, and SkyUp Malta envisages having a fleet of up to 15 Boeing 737-800 flying from a variety of bases including Poland and Romania.
