May 01, 2023 (newstodate): Sweden's Gothenburg Landvetter Airport is rejoicing over seeing long-haul scheduled passenger flights returning after a looong absence.
Breaking new trails is the launch of SAS flights from Gothenburg to New York JFK from April 30, 2023, with Airbus A321LR aircraft on three weekly rotations.
SAS first launched flights on the route already from the opening of the airport in 1977, but after a few years the flight was discontinued.
Gothenburg Airport last saw Qatar Airways opening flights on the route between Doha and Gothenburg on December 18, 2018, with Boeing 787-8 aircraft - but this route was suspended as the coronavirus pandemic took hold - and never returned on the route map.
