May 10, 2023 (newstodate): Having now obtained its Maltese AOC, CAMO, and an Air Operator License, the new ACMI and wet-lease provider SkyUp Malta is capable of offering both ACMI, wet-lease and scheduled flights services in Europe.
As one first scheduled service, SkyUp is to launch flights between Vilnius and Dubai already from September 2023, offering healthy competition in the Baltic markets to the Latvian carrier airBaltic that launched services between Riga and Dubai on September 27, 2021.
The new service will be offered three times weekly from September 1, 2023, with the Maltese company's Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The carrier has plans to grow the number of aircraft on its coming AOC to 19 by 2023, partly by transferring aircraft from its Ukrainian AOC to the Maltese company.
In the fleet of SkyUp Airlines are today two Boeing 737-700 and 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, and SkyUp Malta envisages having a fleet of up to 15 Boeing 737-800 flying from a variety of bases including Poland and Romania.
