May 08, 2023 (newstodate): SAS Cargo has now found its coming new CEO: Markus Ek, taking up the new role from August 1, 2023.
With the SAS Group for 15 years, Mr Ek has been recruited in-house, today serving as SAS Group VP Global Sales since October 2019 as well as interim Head of Transformation Office since July 2022.
In January 2023, SAS announced the immediate stepping-down of SAS Cargo CEO, Max Knagge, who has thus now left the SAS Group.
Mr Knagge took over the position on January 1, 2021, since December 2014 serving as SAS General Manager Americas but with a career with SAS starting in April 2003, but also spanning a brief encounter with Qatar Airways in 2014.
Replacing Mr Knagge on an interim basis since December 2021 has been Vibeke Haans, SAS Cargo Head of Operations.
During the period with Max Knagge at the helm, SAS Cargo successfully completed a comprehensive reorganization to set up a new top-exec leadership core including a new Head of Strategic Business Development, a new Head of Global Sales & Marketing, a new Head of Commercial, and a new Head of Operations.
SAS Cargo's restructuring also included the sale in 2022 of its forwarding arm Trust Forwarding to Scan Global Logistics and the closure of SAS Cargo Sweden and Norway.
