May 23, 2023 (newstodate): Summer 2023 proves a fruitful year for carriers in the wet-lease and ACMI market.
As one example, the Lithuanian carrier Heston Airlines is riding high on the seasonal demand for extra capacity to satisfy a skyrocketing air charter market.
In the fleet of the carrier that landed its AOC on May 21, 2021, are today six Airbus A320 and three Airbus A330 aircraft.
Two of the Airbus A330 aircraft have been placed on a long-term wet-lease contract with Uzbekistan Airways to operate on routes from Tashkent to Istanbul, Dubai and Jeddah.
The first of the two aircraft arrived at Tashkent Airport on April 21, 2023, with the second following shortly after.
Now, the third Airbus A330 has been placed on a wet-lease contract with Condor Flugdienst for flights during the summer from Dusseldorf to tourist destinations.
Condor is also wet-leasing two Airbus A320 aircraft from Heston, also to be based at Dusseldorf during the season.
Three of Heston Airlines' Airbus A320 aircraft are now operating on a wet-lease contract with the new Estonian carrier Marabu during the summer schedule, and one aircraft has been contracted by Montenegro Airlines.
So all sold out at Heston Airlines, based at Vilnius Airport and with Jonas Rinkauskas as its CEO.
