May 23, 2023 (newstodate): Despite strong public anger and demonstrations in Georgia, Georgia and Russia have now reinstated direct air links.
Starting last week, the Russian carrier Azimut and Georgian Airways have reopened flights between Moscow and Tbilisi after the Russian president lifted his ban on flights from 2019 that was a retaliation to strong anti-Russian demonstrations in Georgia.
Both carriers are now offering daily flights between the two countries, while Georgia's decision is vehemently criticized by the USA, EU and Ukraine for breaking the sanctions imposed on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.
