May 10, 2023 (newstodate): Plans for launch of FarCargo, a new cargo carrier in the Faroe Islands, are now maturing.
-FarCargo has inked a Purchase Agreement with AerSale for one Boeing 757-200PCF to be delivered in August 2023, confirms Birgir Nielsen, FarCargo Mng Dir.
-Our plans thus remain unchanged, albeit delayed; FarCargo will fly Faroese salmon exports from Bakkafrost to New York Newark Airport, returning from the USA most probably to Denmark's Billund Airport with US exports, and next take Faroese import shipments back to Vagar Airport.
When delivered, the aircraft with Danish registration will be placed on the AOC of and operated by West Atlantic Sweden, partnering with FarCargo till the airline obtains an own AOC at a later stage.
Originally, expectations were that the first flight would launch already by late October/early November 2022 - but plans were delayed as FarCargo rejected the acquisition of the Boeing 757-200 first sourced.
