May 12, 2023 (newstodate): After a promising rebound in March, air cargo and mail volumes handled at Finland's Helsinki Airport took a slight dip in April 2023, down 0.7 percent, y-o-y.
A total of 13,680 tonnes of cargo was handled at Helsinki Airport - less than in March, but still this year's second-best month.
13,490 tonnes were international cargo that dropped 0.9 percent, y-o-y, in April, while volumes January-April were 52,502 tonnes, down 12.9 percent.
On the bright side, Finnair's strategic cooperation with Qatar Airways saw Finnair's volumes on flights from Helsinki to Doha rising steeply by no less than 1,786 percent (!) to 1,514 tonnes - but obviously still not enough to offset the negative development in a waning market.
