May 31, 2023 (newstodate): Air Greenland's new Airbus A330-800neo delivered only on December 7, 2022, remains grounded at Copenhagen Airport since May 23, 2023.
During a tow-back operation, the aircraft - crucial to serve the carrier's trunk line to Denmark - collided with an SAS aircraft on the tarmac, damaging part of the right wing section, requiring extensive and time-consuming repair work awaiting delivery of crucial spare parts.
Air Greenland has thus been forced to lease external capacity, including the Spanish carrier's single Boeing 777-300ER as well as a Boeing 737-800 from its regular wet-lease partner Jettime.
