May 02, 2023 (newstodate): Air Greenland is taking in a "new" De Havilland Canada DHC-8 Dash 8 aircraft to its fleet.
The aircraft will become the eighth of the type operated by Air Greenland and will be serving as back-up capacity for the fleet in domestic services connecting to Air Greenland's hub at Nuuk Airport and its transatlantic hub at Kangerlussuaq Airport in the south of the country.
Like the seven Dash-8 aircraft already in the fleet, the newcomer, delivered in Greenland shortly after taking off on a ferry flight from Calgary in Canada on April 7, 2023, was manufactured almost 26 years ago and has been serving with a range of airlines in North and South America before ending up with the Avmax Group in Canada.
Air Greenland plans to introduce the aircraft in service by mid-May 2023.
