Apr 26, 2023 (newstodate): The Ukrainian carrier SkyUp Airlines has lost one Boeing 737-800 aircraft, damaged at Khartoum's airfield during the ongoing coup and unrest in Sudan.
The carrier has now successfully completed the evacuation via Egypt of its 36 employees in Sudan, while the status of the aircraft remaining at Khartoum airport remains unknown.
Earlier this month, SkyUp Airlines managed to fly its single remaining Boeing 737-800 aircraft out of Kiev after being stalled there since the start of the Russian war on Ukraine.
In effect, the airline still operates a fleet of 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, enabling it to fulfill its wet-lease and other contracts with customers, while its contract with the Sudanese carrier Sun Air has been suspended for obvious reasons.
