Apr 25, 2023 (newstodate): Like most other airports, Sweden's three main cargo airports report a sustained decline in flown cargo volumes in Q1, 2023.
Stockholm Airport thus handled 23,426 tonnes of cargo in January-March 2023, a decline by 14.1 percent, y-o-y; in March '23 alone, volumes dipped 12.4 percent to 9,373 tonnes.
The airport has thus not yet seen a direct positive effect from the launch of Finnair's daily flights between Stockholm and Doha from November 1, 2022, in cooperation with Qatar Airways.
Gothenburg Airport also saw volumes down by 12.2 percent, y-o-y, during Q1, to 3,965 tonnes, with volumes in March down by 19 percent to 1,723 tonnes.
Finally, Malmo Airport was also down 25.5 percent, y-o-y, to 4,947 tonnes, with volumes in March down by 25.2 percent, to 1,827 tonnes.
Earlier heavily reliant on integrator traffic, Malmo Airport has seen its flown volumes consistently falling since FedEx's acquisition of TNT which moved cargo to Copenhagen Airport instead.
At all three airports, both imports and exports were marked by decline in flown volumes.
