Apr 11, 2023 (newstodate): Copenhagen Airport was to be among the first destinations served by LOT from the new Polish airport at Radom. This is, however, not going to happen...
In March 2023, the airport received its final certification based on EU standards and was to see the launch of traffic from April or May 2023, with flights to Copenhagen among the first three destinations.
Plans were to open the new route by April 28, 2023, with three weekly rotations - that have now been cancelled before the start due to weak response in the market.
The airport has been in operation since 1920 serving as a dual military/civil airport, relieving the growing pressure on Warsaw's Chopin Airport.
Reconstruction of the airport including an extension of the runway from 2,000 to 2,500 m, and expansion of the passenger terminal started in May 2019, but completion of the works and the launch of operations were delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
