Apr 19, 2023 (newstodate): Sweden's Jonkoping Airport is again reporting encouraging figures.
In January-March 2023, the airport thus handled a total of 808 tonnes of cargo and mail - an increase by 11 percent, y-o-y.
Mail volumes secured the growth with an increase by 431 percent, y-o-y, to 170 tonnes, thanks to the return from January 31, 2022, of PostNord Sweden's nightly flights on weekdays from Stockholm Arlanda to Jonkoping Airport, operated by the Swiss carrier Zimex.
On the other hand, cargo volumes handled at the airport were down by eight percent, y-o-y, to 638 tonnes during the period that saw less ad-hoc freighter operations as the hectic days of the corona pandemic faded.
On the passenger side, the airport also noted a brisk development with 5,307 passengers handled, while the volume of flight ops at the airport rose by 27 percent, y-o-y, to 1,064 movements.
