Apr 20, 2023 (newstodate): The new Ukrainian cargo airline Supernova is in the final preparations for launch of services by May 2023, earlier slated for March already.
Established by the Ukrainian postal company Nova Poshta, Supernova obtained its AOC on January 6, 2023, as the first Ukrainian carrier in wartime, and plans are to launch cargo and postal flights from airports closest to Ukraine pending the time when operations at Ukrainian international airports Boryspil and Lviv are again feasible as peace returns.
By then, plans are to offer cargo flights connecting the USA, Europe and China via Kiev.
At this stage, the carrier is awaiting its certification by EASA for flights into EU, and in the fleet will be two leased two AN-26 cargo aircraft now completing their flight test programs pending the start of commercial flights, and plans are to add two more aircraft before the end of this year.
For a start, the route network will comprise destinations in the Middle East and Europe, and in the first half of 2023, post offices will appear in Germany, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Romania while the number of branches in Poland will increase to 48.
Managing the airline as CEO is Yaroslav Krasnozhon, formerly serving with the Turkish-owned Atlasjet Ukraine.
