Apr 14, 2023 (newstodate): SAS has now taken delivery of its second Airbus A320neo aircraft from Aviation Capital Group.
The latest delivery is part of a package of 10 aircraft comprised by a sale-lease back contract signed in March 2023 with the aircraft lessor Aviation Capital Group, securing competitive financing of the new aircraft as part of its transformation plan.
In the fleet of SAS are today 37 Airbus A320neo aircraft, and orders have been placed for a further 20 units - of which half have thus now been secured financially.
Looking ahead, SAS will be operating a fleet of 134 aircraft, despite the recent drastic cuts and changes by its Forward-strategy.
Of these 134 aircraft, only 22 will reportedly be owned by the SAS Group; another 77 aircraft are placed on various re-negotiated lease contracts, while the remaining 35 aircraft are operated by wet-lease partners including Xfly and CityJet.
