Apr 26, 2023 (newstodate): The Moldovan carrier HiSky Europe has plans for launching flights to the USA.
The carrier has applied with the US regulator FAA for an Exemption and a Foreign Air Carrier Permit allowing it to operate scheduled and charter flights between Europe and the US market with Airbus A321LR aircraft.
-HiSky Europe is applying to the Department for the full extent of
authority available to air carriers from EU Member States under the EU-U.S. open-skies agreement so that it will be able to introduce scheduled transatlantic service and also make the aircraft in its fleet available for charter service to and from the United States, the application reads.
In October 2022, the carrier signed a long-term lease contract with ALC for delivery by March 2023 of two Airbus A321neoLR aircraft, allowing it to enter the long-haul flights market.
In the fleet of the privately-owned carrier are also five aircraft including one Airbus A319 and four Airbus A320 aircraft operating a spree of intra-European routes on scheduled as well as charter basis.
Three carriers from Moldova are today certified to operate flights to the USA: Dan Air, TAROM and Romcargo Airlines.
