Mar 16, 2023 (newstodate): The Ukrainian carrier SkyUp Airlines is now supporting the flight operations of Air Moldova that has all three aircraft on the ground.
To remedy the situation, Air Moldova has wet-leased one Boeing 737-800 from SkyUp Airlines now operating from Moldova's Chisinau Airport with six daily flights since March 11.
By the end of 2022, the fleet of Air Moldova comprised two Airbus A319, one Airbus A320, and one Airbus A321 aircraft; however the A320 and one Airbus A319 remain grounded at Montpellier Airport, France, with the second A319 stuck in Verona, Italy, and the A321 was finally grounded from March 9, 2023, leaving the carrier without operational aircraft.
Speculations are that Air Moldova has decided to keep the aircraft out of Moldova as a precautionary measure in case of increased Russian pressure that has earlier forced Wizz Air to suspend all flights to the country.
