Mar 23, 2023 (newstodate): Russia's loyal friend China is having no problems with Belarus, either, and one Star Alliance member airline is thus continuing services to Belarus.
Serving Belarus since 2015 with flights from Beijing to Minsk continuing to Budapest before returning to Beijing, Air China, a member of the Star Alliance, is now in the process of adding more capacity to the route connecting Beijing and Minsk with non-stop services.
Currently serving the route with one weekly rotation, frequency will go up to two weekly rotations from April 17, 2023, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft on the route.
Temporarily suspended during the Covid-19 period, Air China resumed flights to Minsk from July 1, 2022.
After the forced detour to Belarus of a Ryanair aircraft on an intra-EU flight from Athens to Vilnius on May 23, 2021, the international response has been a range of economic and political sanctions on Belarus, including flight bans by a number of EU and non-EU countries.
