Mar 06, 2023 (newstodate): The opening of two new Transatlantic airports in Greenland by the end of 2024 may bring in new operators and competitors in a market today strongly dominated by Air Greenland.
According to Greenland's newspaper Sermitsiaq, Norwegian is "very interested" and is keeping an eye on the new opportunities, and will talk to Kalaallit Airports and tour operators to ascertain the potentials for establishing flights from a Scandinavian destination - probably Copenhagen Airport - to the airports at Nuuk or Ilulissat, both offering a 2,200 m runway.
The carrier's Director of Communications and Public Affairs Nordics, Andreas Hjornholm, however, still keeps the issue on ice:
-We have said only that we may be interested if there is a business case for a new route. That's all!
