Mar 27, 2023 (newstodate): It obviously takes time to calibrate the operations of a splash-new air cargo service - even for a potent company in the Maersk Group..
Today's early morning-departure scheduled from Billund on the route to Hangzhou via Navoi in Uzbekistan has so far been postponed by 12 hours after the Boeing 767-300 freighter landed at Billund Airport shortly after noon on March 25, completing the first week of three operations on the new route that required some 27 flight hours on each full rotation.
The first flight was launched with great fanfare on March 20, 2023, but took a full three days, with 26 hours in the air and the rest of the time on the ground at Navoi in Uzbekistan and Hangzhou in China.
-We are in a start-up phase and operating at a high rate of utilization of the aircraft; we are however still not operating a fully settled day-to-day schedule, so there will be certain changes in departure and arrival times, says Peter Corfitzen, Maersk Air Cargo CEO, who expects deliveries of the next two Boeing 767-300 freighter aircraft for the base at Billund Airport to follow "shortly".
