Mar 14, 2023 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic is scheduling a spree of routes to be served with leased Airbus A320 aircraft from Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius in the coming summer season.
While taking in its 40th Airbus A220-300 aircraft by early April 2023 with the 41st already off the FAL, the carrier is still in need of external capacity to balance its own lease-out program and the sustained AOG comprising several aircraft with engine problems and supply chain disruptions.
In March 2023, airBaltic thus contracted the Lithuanian ACMI carrier Avion Express for wet-lease of four Airbus A320-200 aircraft during the expectedly busy summer period; two aircraft will operate out of airBaltic's base at Riga Airport starting from March 26 to October 28, while one will be based in Vilnius and another in Tallinn, from May 1 to October 28, 2023.
At Riga Airport, airBaltic will operate the A320 on 15 routes, including to Copenhagen and Oslo; at Tallinn Airport the A320 will operate on nine routes also including Copenhagen and Oslo; and at Vilnius, the A320 will be operated on nine routes including Tallinn.
