Mar 16, 2023 (newstodate): Icelandair has again confirmed its intentions to move all Greenland-flights to Keflavik Airport.
The decision was actually aired already in 2021 to comprise all Icelandair flights to four destinations in Greenland - Nuuk, Ilulissat, Kulusuk and Narsarsuaq - after the merger of Iceland's domestic carrier Air Iceland Connect and Icelandair that took effect from March 16, 2021.
But in effect, only the flights to Nuuk and Ilulissat were transferred from Reykjavik Airport to Keflavik Airport, some 48 km away on narrow roads, from summer '22.
Operating all Greenland-flights from Keflavik Airport will provide passengers with more convenient transfer options to and from Icelandair's route network.
In September 2021, Icelandair and Air Greenland entered a new interline agreement to expand cooperation between the two companies to connect Air Greenland’s extensive route network in Greenland and Icelandair’s international route network to Europe and North America.
