Mar 07, 2023 (newstodate): Icelandair Cargo has seen immediate positive results from introducing its first of two Boeing 767-300ER freighters in late December 2022.
Summing up the results from Q4/22, Icelandair reports an increase in cargo volumes by 38 percent, y-o-y, which, the company says, is primarily explained by the fact that the wide-body freighter was added to the cargo fleet, increasing cargo space.
-Customers have welcomed this increased supply, and it is clear that there are great opportunities in using Keflavík Airport as a connection center for freight transport, says Bogi Nils Bogason, Icelandair CEO, in a comment to the Q4 report.
After redelivery of the two Boeing 767-300 aircraft, two Boeing 757 freighters now in the fleet of Icelandair will be retired in 2023 and 2024, respectively, as their lease periods expire.
Compared to the Boeing 757-200F freighter, the converted Boeing 767-300ER freighter offers up to 50 percent more cargo capacity and longer range.
