Mar 22, 2023 (newstodate): Oslo Airport will see the opening of its new seafood cargo terminal slated for summer 2023.
Established by a private developer Oslo Airport City, The World Seafood Center will comprise 55,000 m2 terminal space, of which 20,000 m2 have been taken on an 18-years lease contract with an option for further expansion by GPC, Gardermoen Perishables Center owned by Schenker Norway, DHL and the Norwegian freight forwarder Air Cargo Logistics.
-The construction process is almost completed and on target, and we expect to go operational with the new facility by July after gradually starting test production and moving in during June, says Torgil Staalberg, GPC Managing Director.
-We will thus leave the existing premises leased from Avinor that will decide on the future use of the facility.
-The new facility will open up for handling of larger volumes of seafood; volumes are not booming these days, but I have no worries about the future recurring boom as the market stabilizes.
