Mar 27, 2023 (newstodate): Forced to shift its main focus from the troubled Asian lanes to North Atlantic traffic, Finnair is operating a high volume of flights in summer '23 to US destinations.
In this summer's schedule, Finnair will be operating 21 weekly rotations on routes from Helsinki to the USA, including seven weekly rotations to New York, four weekly to Dallas, four weekly to Chicago, three weekly to Los Angeles, and three weekly to Seattle.
Eastbound from Helsinki, Finnair has returned flights to Osaka from March 26, 2023, with three weekly flights and added flights to Tokyo's Narita Airport, Hong Kong and Delhi.
In the 2023 summer season, Finnair will operate flights to Tokyo's Narita four times a week in addition to its daily flights to Tokyo's Haneda.
During the S'23 schedule, Finnair will also be operating daily flights from Helsinki to Hong Kong as well as Delhi.
Designed for an MTOW at 268 tonnes, five of Finnair's Airbus A350 are now certified to 275 tonnes MTOW, and another five up to 280 tonnes MTOW, allowing the aircraft to carry more passengers and cargo as well as more fuel to operate the longer distance, increasing the economic efficiency of each flight.
The modifications form part of Finnair’s strategy to restore profitability and increase payloads, in spite of airspace closures and increased flight times on the Asian routes.
In Finnair's fleet are now eight Airbus A330-300 and 17 Airbus A350-900, with deliveries of a further two Airbus A350-900 pending.
