Mar 01, 2023 (newstodate): Billund Airport reports a steep drop in cargo volumes handled in February '23: down 26.9 percent, y-o-y.
A total of 4,873 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport where imports dropped even more - down 40 percent to a mere 1,052 tonnes.
Exports were also down by 22.2 percent, y-o-y, to 3,821 tonnes.
The first two months of this year have thus seen volumes down by 22.1 percent, y-o-y, to 10,425 tonnes.
The comparison of February 2022/23 is, however, tinged by the exceptionally strong increase in volumes by 22.7 percent to 6,666 tonnes in February 2022 that also saw the airport's - and more notably: the world's - last call on February 4, 2022, by the An-225 Mriya freighter later damaged by the Russian invaders attacking Ukraine's Gostomel Airport.
In pre-Covid February 2019, the airport handled a total of 5,621 tonnes of cargo, a modest increase by one percent, y-o-y.
So compared to February 2019, Billund Airport is "only" trailing 13.3 percent after pre-Covid volumes.
