Mar 20, 2023 (newstodate): The Icelandic cargo carrier Bluebird Nordic is growing its freighter fleet, adding more Boeing 737-800 converted freighter capacity.
The carrier has thus now taken delivery of its 5th aircraft of the type after conversion at Taikoo Aircraft Engineering Company, bringing the fleet to one B737-300, six B737-400 and five B737-800 full freighter aircraft.
The first Boeing 737-800 converted freighter was delivered to Bluebird Nordic in October 2021 after undergoing cargo conversion at Taikoo Aircraft Engineering Company, followed by a C-check performed by FL Technics and repainting by MAAS Aviation, both at Lithuania's Kaunas Airport; the second aircraft followed in February 2022; the third followed in August 2022, and the fourth aircraft joined the roster in October 2022.
And ambitions are high: a member of the Avia Solutions Group, Bluebird Nordic plans to take in a total of 25 Boeing 737-800 converted freighters till 2024.
To expand its grip on the European market, Bluebird Nordic is also in the process of obtaining a Slovak AOC.
Avia Solutions Group already holds eight AOCs in Europe, and in May '23, the group is planning to obtain an AOC in Indonesia, expanding its current presence in more than 70 countries worldwide.
