Mar 14, 2023 (newstodate): Billund Airport has finally named a new man to manage the airport's cargo handling business: Nicolai Kroyer.
Taking up his new position from April 1, 2023, Mr Kroyer is Mng Director, Billund Airport Cargo Handling heading a staff of some 150 employees.
Mr Kroyer brings in experience from over 30 years in the shipping and notably the maritime industries, serving for 10 years as COO with Port of Aarhus, but now joining Billund Airport after more than a year in the position as Aarhus Airport CEO.
Mr Kroyer thus undertakes to continue a sustained period of steady progress at Billund Airport in the air cargo handling under his predecessor, Jan Ditlevsen, who left the office by the end of 2022 after 25 years of service.
Ranking high on Mr Kroyer's agenda will now be to support Billund Airport's new key cargo operator Maersk Air Cargo that has picked Billund Airport for its European hub and selected Billund Airport Cargo Handling for handling of its shipments.
Starting from March 20, 2023, the airline will launch flights from Billund Airport to China via Navoi in Uzbekistan, routed Billund-Navoi-Hangzhou-Navoi-Billund.
Maersk Air Cargo will start out with six weekly rotations on the route with Boeing 767-300 converted freighters, eventually going up to as much as 36 rotations on various routes from Billund Airport as the fleet grows.
