Mar 08, 2023 (newstodate): At the Paris Air Show in 2019, the Faroese carrier Atlantic Airways placed a follow-up order with Airbus for another two Airbus A320neo aircraft slated for delivery in H2/2023, and H2/2024, respectively.
But - due to the disruptions caused by Covid-19 pandemic and the impact on the global supply chains, delivery of the two new aircraft has now been rescheduled for 2026/2027, according to Atlantic Airways' CEO, Johanna a Bergi.
In the meantime, Atlantic Airways has taken delivery of one Airbus A320 aircraft, landing at Vagar Airport on March 6, 2023.
The aircraft is delivered under a lease contract with Avolon and provides capacity for the coming summer schedule after the redelivery of the carrier's last remaining Airbus A319 in December 2022.
In the fleet of Atlantic Airways are thus now two Airbus A320ceo and two Airbus A320neo.
Looking ahead, the airline is planning for an all-Airbus A320neo fleet as the prime capacity/demand solution under the current market situation.
