Mar 28, 2023 (newstodate): Sustained troubles with the PW1524G-3 power plants is one reason behind the Latvian carrier airBaltic's need for wet-leasing external capacity in summer '23.
airBaltic has thus informed the market that in the period of March 27 and May 31, 2023, it will temporarily wet-lease additional aircraft on short-term contracts including CRJ-900 aircraft from XFly, as well as Airbus A320 from DAT and Cyprus Airways and Airbus A319 aircraft from Carpatair.
As earlier reported, airBaltic has also established a partnership with Avion Express for four Airbus A320-232 aircraft during summer 2023.
At the same time, airBaltic has landed contracts for wet-leasing 14 of its 40 Airbus A220-300 aircraft to external customers including SAS, Swiss and Eurowings
