Mar 02, 2023 (newstodate): With the opening flight on March 1, 2023, Air India is back in Scandinavia with scheduled services.
The carrier is now offering three weekly rotations on the route connecting New Delhi and Copenhagen, using Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
Compared to the services offered before the Covid-19 pandemic, the flying time will be eight to nine hours due to the closure of Russia's airspace.
Air India first launched flights between Delhi and Stockholm from August 15, 2017, and between Delhi and Copenhagen from September 16, 2017, both served by three weekly rotations using Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
However, in August 2020 Air India pulled out from both routes to Scandinavia as the Covid-19 hit the markets, and so far Air India has not indicated any plans for reviving the flights to Stockholm.
In Copenhagen, Air India has contracted the SAS Group's handling subsidiary SGH for passenger handling, while WFS provides the carrier with cargo handling.
Earlier, SAS launched flights on the route between Copenhagen and Delhi from October 28, 2008, but closed down its short-lived route already from March 2009.
