Feb 01, 2023 (newstodate): January 2023 proved a weak start to the new year in cargo volumes at Billund Airport.
A total of 5,552 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, a drop by 17.3 percent, y-o-y.
The decline was a resounding 41.3 percent in imports, totaling 1,408 tonnes, while exports fared comparatively better - down 3.8 percent to 4,144 tonnes.
The airport itself attributes the weak tonnages to an early Chinese New Year in 2023 as well as the absence of ad-hoc freighter operations in 2022 carrying PPE.
