Feb 01, 2023 (newstodate): The new Ukrainian cargo airline Supernova is in the final preparations for launch of services by March 2023.
Established by the Ukrainian postal company Nova Poshta, Supernova obtained its AOCon January 6, 2023, as the first Ukrainian carrier in wartime, and plans are to launch cargo and postal flights from airports closest to Ukraine pending the time when operations at Ukrainian international airports Boryspil and Lviv are again feasible as peace returns.
For a start, the carrier has leased two AN-26 cargo aircraft that are now ending their flight test programs pending the start of commercial flights, and plans are to add two more aircraft before the end of this year.
The airline company was registered on October 1, 2021, aiming at operating scheduled routes to the USA and China.
For a start, the route network will however comprise destinations in the Middle East and Europe, and in the first half of 2023, post offices will appear in Germany, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Romania while the number of branches in Poland will increase to 48.
Managing the airline as CEO is Yaroslav Krasnozhon, formerly serving with the Turkish-owned Atlasjet Ukraine.
