Feb 10, 2023 (newstodate): Lithuania's VIP passenger charter carrier KlasJet is soon to add Boeing 737-800 passenger aircraft to its fleet, aiming at the ACMI market.
Plans are to take delivery of initially eight Boeing 737-800 aircraft, later to grow to a fleet of up to 15 aircraft of this type before the end of 2023, adding to the existing fleet of one Boeing 737-300 and four Boeing 737-500, one Challenger 850 5 Classic, and one BBJ Boeing 737 BBJ aircraft.
-We see a very strong need for ACMI in the market right now, and it’s only expected to grow. Aircraft manufacturers are dealing with backlogs and the situation is made more complicated by a number of overbooked MRO slots.
-Paired with the first summer largely out of the pandemic, and skyrocketing demand for travel, it is key for tour operators, brokers, and airlines to take action now and not wait until right before the high summer season, says Lukas Petrauskas, KlasJet Deputy CEO.
With HQ at Riga Airport, KlasJet was set up by Avia Solutions Group in November 2013, and obtained its AOC in late June 2014, initially focussing on VIP passenger charters and later developing into the passenger and cargo charter ACMI markets.
