Feb 23, 2023 (newstodate): The freighter operation at Norway's Evenes Airport, a joint project between the Norwegian salmon producer and exporter Nordlaks, the freight forwarder Salmosped, and Lufthansa Cargo, proved to be another short-term adventure.
The carrier thus performed its last flight on December 21, 2022, closing a chapter that began only two months earlier, with the first flight on November 2, 2022, offering with one weekly rotation.
In November/December 2022, Evenes Airport handled a total of 192 tonnes of cargo carried on Lufthansa Cargo's Airbus A321F, including 121 tonnes in November and 71 tonnes in December 2022.
In November ´22, the aircraft thus lifted an average of 24 tonnes of cargo on each flight on the route to Frankfurt from Evenes, with the capacity of lifting some 27 tonnes of Norwegian salmon for direct transfer to onward flights to Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo destinations in Asia and North America.
The operation formed part of the Lufthansa Cargo's regional cargo network launched in March 2022 with A321 freighters operated by the Lufthansa subsidiary CityLine, an intra-European passenger carrier.
