Feb 09, 2023 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier SmartLynx is to operate extensively in the Canadian market with new wet-lease contract.
   The Canadian carrier Air Transat has signed a wet-lease contract with SmartLynx to operate 20 weekly flights with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on 24 routes from Halifax and Moncton to leisure destinations in the USA and the Caribbeans.
   The contract covers a program of flights from mid-February till mid-May 2023.
   SmartLynx' Maltese subsidiary filed its application for a Foreign Air Carrier Certificate allowing it to operate flight services to and from Canada to DOT on June 6, 2019, and was granted the requested permits on August 22, 2019.
