In May 2022, the four aircraft serving as passenger aircraft with Finnair were acquired by Dutch aircraft lessor APOC Aviation for conversion and entry into service with SmartLynx in 2023.
Since the end of January 2023, the first of the four aircraft is now on the bench at ST Engineering's facility in Guangzhou, China.
By the end of 2022, SmartLynx had eight Airbus A321 converted freighters in the fleet. The additional freighters will bring SmartLynx’s fleet to a total of 15 active aircraft of this type by H1, 2023, with a plan to expand up to 20 by the end of the year.
