Feb 10, 2023 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic's first base outside its Baltic home turf, opened in early May 2022, is being cautiously expanded in summer 2023.
New destinations so far announced are flights from Tampere to Nice and Milan, with two weekly rotations using Airbus A220-300 aircraft.
Allocating one Airbus A220-300 aircraft at Tampere, with the first flights on May 2, 2022, airBaltic has been offering direct flights from Tampere to Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Malaga, Munich and Riga during this winter season starting from October 31, 2022, while flights to Frankfurt and Oslo were suspended.
Bolstering its new base, airBaltic also announced an expansion of its code-share agreement with SAS, facilitating its passengers at Tampere Airport to connect seamlessly to SAS' flights at Oslo and Copenhagen for onward flights on SAS's international route network.
