Feb 28, 2023 (newstodate): New out of Africa will be a dedicated cargo airline set up in South Africa: Suid Cargo.
For a start, the carrier will enter the ad-hoc cargo charter market with one Boeing 727-200F freighter operated by Kenya's Astral Aviation.
Plans are, however, to build a younger fleet of freighters from 2024, preferably Boeing 737-800 or Airbus A320 converted aircraft.
At a later stage, the carrier will also consider scheduled cargo services aiming at the African market as well as Asia and Europe.
To be based at Tambo International Airport, the carrier with Thomas Honiball, Accountable Manager and CEO, relies on the ACMI cooperation with Astral Aviation pending the issuance of an own AOC, and hopes are to get airborne in Q2, 2023.
