Dec 06, 2023 (newstodate): Quite unexpectedly, West Atlantic has announced the immediate retreat of its CEO Lars Jordahn, in the seat since January 2019.
West Atlantic is the holding company for two airlines, West Air Sweden and West Atlantic UK, with its head office in Malmo, Sweden.
-The Board of West Atlantic has, in unison with its CEO, decided to make a change to the top position of the company, the release out yesterday reads.
- The Company is now entering a new phase where both West Atlantic Sweden and West Atlantic UK will act directly as independent airlines in the wider Swiftair group.
The wording indicates that the West Atlantic holding company will be dissolved, leaving its two airlines to perform independently among the Swift Air Group's other members.
After a turbulent financial situation, West Atlantic was acquired in 2019 by the Spanish carrier Swiftair, an airline owned by the Air Lusat Group, headed by Salvador Moreno, who is also in the Chair at the Board of West Atlantic.
The Lusat–Swiftair group operates eight airlines, including the two West Atlantic carriers, with a fleet totaling 80 aircraft primarily serving the air cargo industries.
