Dec 15, 2023 (newstodate): In his annual "public" press meeting, Russia's president again touched on the issue of Russia's production of commercial aircraft.
-We need to develop our own aircraft production. I hope all plans - and we plan to make more than 1,000 own airplanes by 2030 - will be implemented, Putin said, according to TASS.
In effect, he was only repeating what was set as the target already last year.
In 2022, Russia’s ministry for industry and trade thus issued a revised plan calling for the production of 1,000 aircraft by domestic manufacturers through 2030.
The ministerial policy envisages the production of 564 large aircraft including 12 Ilyushin Il-96-300, 270 MC21-310, 70 Tupolev Tu-214, 142 Sukhoi Superjet 100, and 70 Il-114-300 regional aircraft.
In response, the Kazan Aviation Plant plans to begin supplying Tu-214 aircraft to airlines from 2023.
There is still, however, a long way to go: Kazan expects to deliver three aircraft in 2023, seven in 2024, and then 10 aircraft annually...
